Lucky Jack is one of those cool random finds. The colorful retro visuals instantly gravitate me to wards it. The game is designed by Richard Brault and Pascal Thoniel and published by FoxMind. The game promises high stakes intensity of Vegas, but without the risk of actually losing your money or having to go to a casino

Lucky Jack by Fox Mind cover board game

Objective

The goal is simple: discard your hand as fast as possible to be the first to lay down a 3 or 4-card jackpot of matching symbols

Components

  • Rulebook

  • 84 cards (7 symbols, 12 cards each)

  • 3 Score aid cards

Set Up

1️⃣ Choose a dealer, shuffle the cards and deal out 7 to each player

2️⃣ Dealer starts by turning the top card

How to Play

The game plays in rounds. You can play one or as many as five rounds. During your turn, you can either:

  • Play a card matching the discard’s symbol

  • Play a card with a higher symbol value

  • Play a card with a lower symbol value (but you have to draw two cards as a penalty)

  • If you can't or don't want to play, draw from the pile. You can add it to your hand or discard it immediately. If you discard, the next player can shout take and grab that card

Me right before winning at lucky jack board game

Once you’re down to your last few cards, get ready to pounce. As soon as you have a set of 3 or 4 identical symbols, discard the final card, shout JACKPOT! and lay the cards down (dramatically for effect) to claim victory 🏆

Who Is This For?

This is perfect for casual family game nights. If you want a quick filler that doesn't force you to stare at complex numbers. The game is fast and accessible. For something similar, check out Flip 7

BOTTOM LINE

Lucky Jack manages to squeeze the excitement of a casino into a tiny deck of cards without any of the heavy math. The art is punchy, the turns are snappy, and I love that it lets me turn my brain off while still having a competitive time. A solid addition for anyone building a portable, low-fluff collection.
